The Mighty Larriers Conker Competition 2010

Larriers Sunflower Competition 2009/2010

It was another great year for the Larriers Sunflower Competition. Our head judge Mr Bailey went around to each house and measured up the flowers.  There was skinny and thick, short and tall, big and small headed flowers.  Some were grown with tea bags and others with horse manure.  One flower was grown indoors so the dog wouldn't eat it and still reached over four feet.  Eventually Mr Bailey came up with a winner.  Measuring at eight feet and six inches Cian from 4th class is the Larriers king of the Sunflower 2009/2010. Well done to Cian and everyone else for taking part.

Boxing in the Community

Larriers love sport, especially sport for fun. This year we are very lucky that Dublin City Council in partnership with the Irish Amateur Boxing Association is offering a six week Boxing in the Community Bronze Award Programme.
The programme is non-contact, promoting the opportunity to learn new skills, gain in confidence and improve agility. It will promote footwork, fitness and fun!!

Larriers V Ladyswell 2010

The League Semi Final

We played a semi final in Fairview last Friday, the 28th of May against Wedgewood from Sandyford. When the match kicked off Shayo scored in the first ten minutes. They got a goal straight after us. A few minutes later Taylor ran down the wing with the ball and crossed it in and I just tapped it in. Then the half time whistle blew. Josh, Nathan and I were taken off. In the second half Shayo scored 3 goals. There was loads of shouts on the sideline. The match finished 5-2 to us.

The Larriers March On

On the 17th of May Larriers played Booterstown in the 1/4 final of the Pegaus Cup in Fairview Park. Here is Evan's report on the match.
As soon as the whistle blew I knew it was going to be a hard match but I decided to get on with it. We were winning 1 -0 and they came back with goal and then five minutes later they got another. I though the second goal should have been disallowed because the player on the other team said to leave it and that it should have been a free kick. But we kept battling on and got another goal which brought it to 2-2. The match went into extra time and Shayo got the winner which won the game for us. It was the best game of the season.
Still to come:
Evans report on the semi final in Fairview last Friday and his report on the All Ireland 5 a side final.

A match report from a goalie's perspective

Yesterday I was playing in goal for the school team and we kicked off when we got to Fairview. The game went well in the first few minutes and a few seconds later we got a goal. After the other team's tip off we got straight back into them and when we got the ball we scored another goal! At half time Mr. Bailey was speachless.
In the second half the other team had a chance to score but I ran out at the player and he shot wide of the goal. After I kicked it out we got a goal and when the other team tipped it we got another goal. We kept on scoring. At the end of the match it was 6 -0 to us.

The Quater Final

We played a quater final match today. It was in Fairview Park. The pitch wasn't too good but I managed to score in the first ten minutes and more goals followed from that. The team we played weren't great but they kept on at us, but they couldn't get a look in. The match finished 10 - 0 to us. We're off to the semifinal!

Evan Pierce

A bio of Evan Pierce; Larriers newest sports journalist

Evan is 11 years old. He plays midfield for St. Kevins and makes regular appearances on the Larriers team. He is currently in 4th class and is a huge Man. Utd fan. His favourite player is Messi. Evan hopes to play for Man Utd one day.

Evan Pierce's first football report

On Thursday we played a 5 aside F.A.I. football tournament. It was in Ringsend. We played on astro turf. We played 5 games. We won 4 and drew in one match. Shayo scored 8 goals and Killo scored 6. Haydo got the nicest goal. He took a shot from far out, Shayo jumped over the ball and confused the goalkeeper and it went in! There were 20 teams in the whole tournament and Larriers came out on top! We're off to the Leinster finals next.
